As the title suggests, we have now been welcomed into the new year of 2009, and it’s already off to an exceptional start. Because of all this, I haven’t had much time to keep you all updated, but here we go. I’m here, and about to fill you in on all the juicy goss that is my life. First of all, my own creative agency, Pink Cocoa, is at it’s hottest right now. We’ve got more projects than we know what to do with, but we’re loving it. It’s very exciting over in my office at the moment. Some very big things are happening here at what is soon to be Jeremy Smart Media. A special launch is scheduled for December 1 of the new company. With all of our services under the one name, website and structure. Due to the the nature of all this, I’m only able to give out certain details, such as the new site (which is in Beta at the moment – available at beta.smartaus.com).

It’s been a while since I last wrote, and a lot has happened. First of all, my darling MacBook Pro has had to undergo emergency surgery, and is awaiting doctors diagnosis. You see, I was quite innocently working on some scripts, sitting in my lounge room, being, well… innocent. It all seemed fine, until it suddenly turned off. I instinctively turned it back on, assuming it was juts a minor crash. At that point, the white smoke that began to pour out of the vents, and in front of my screen got me worried. I quickly forced it to shut down, and haven’t turned it back on since.

Apple’s been relatively helpful, asking me a series of about 50 questions, such as “Was the fire department called?” and “Did you have to crawl out of the room, or could I walk?”. These gave me the impression that I wasn’t the first to have a potentially explosive computer. I’m still awaiting a diagnosis from Apple’s Engineering Team and I’ll fill you in more, as I find out.

Finally back at the grind… final term of school and same as ever. This term, I’m working on our annual magazine which is great, but a lot of work. Another change to this term is our lack of snow, and therefor are unable to enjoy our weekly school skiing. This makes life not so enjoyable, but it is summer, and very relaxing. Off to a party tomorrow night, and have a nice little bit of work to have done by monday.

For all of you tuning in from Australia, when you wake up, you will be greeted with something very exciting. At 4am (our time, because no one holds an event that early), Apple Inc. will have launched a brand new laptop computer range. Mouth watering already? Check out the photos below. Absolutely stunning, even if it is just a computer. My ageing MacBook Pro is brilliant, but these new ones – I mean, wow!

Interested in all the little details? It’s unconfirmed what the pictured laptop will actually be, however, my money’s on the Pro. Spy shot pictures were leaked to online magazine, Gizmodo, and seem pretty legit, unlike certain others. On another note, a MacBook touch? Now this really is mouth watering. A competition done by the same magazine.

Well, there’s not much else to say, except that all will be revealed at 10am in an invitation-only event tomorrow in Cupertino. Which, as I said – 4am over here. The All New MacBook Pro

Last night (well, this morning, at about 1am) I discovered something amazing. This song is absolutely phenomenal. Empire of the Sun is a collaboration between Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore. Their first single, “Walking on a Dream”, was filmed appropriately in Shanghai, the setting for the novel and movie, Empire of the Sun. The music video features Steele and Littlemore on location in Shanghai, wearing oriental costumes and makeup. The video, shown on YouTube in high definition, was filmed on a Red camera, providing stunning colours and resolution.

Walkingonadream.com features the lyrics and a free downloadable remix by Sam La More, Nick Littlemore’s brother. This is the first single from their soon to be released debut album. Littlemore is also one half of Sydney electro duo Pnau. Steele is guitarist and vocalist for Perth band The Sleepy Jackson. The music video is directed by Josh Logue of Mathematics.

I woke up this morning, and the first thing that popped into my head seemed to be a brand new season of The Lounge. Strange, huh. Truth is, I miss the show. I miss coming in every week and having an absolute blast with Jack, Ruby and the crew. So, I got straight on the phone to both my Creative Director and President of Production (who coincidentally worked on the original show) and said exactly what I thought. At first, they thought I was crazy, but then they remembered the fun they had every Friday night, nearly a year ago.

Well, I think it’s time. As you may see, there’s a brand new site – where you can now become a member! Plus, we’ve got all the old pics and vids up for your viewing pleasure! Oh and guess what? We’re coming to TV! OK, well, maybe. But it sounds good, eh? Remember to stay tuned to my blog on The Lounge, because there’s plenty more coming your way, very soon.

Last night, I went and saw one of the funniest movies in many years. Tropic Thunder starred Ben Stiller and Jack Black, and truly was the greatest war movie of our time. The night began with a trip to a nice restaurant in Canberra, called Bazaar. A lovely, filling desert, followed by Affogato and a slow stroll to Dendy.

I won’t spoil the film, but I must say, it was probably the most shocking think i’ve seen in a very long time. Check out the trailer below, and then see it. Like, seriously – you must see it.

Yes, you know who I mean. Well maybe you don’t. I’m talking about Google’s tenth birthday. It feels like so much longer with the worlds favourite company – the one where employees would pay to work, and consumers would only dream of working, with its facilities only being four years old, and featuring onsite cleaning, massage, free cafe and restaurant as well as the actual work environment.

Reading through Google’s company timeline, the company owns over 150 domains, was once called BackRub, employs well over 15 000 Googlers and has its own product for almost anything online. My favourite, Gmail, now serves my entire company, along with Google Apps, a suite of products that connects all our staff and allows us to collaborate with Talk, Mail, Documents, Calendar and our official intranet.

I guess all I can say, is thanks, Google. I honestly don’t know where we’d be without you, and although it sounds like Im being paid for what I’m saying – its all true. Thank god for Google.
